May 31: 7,881 cases, 15% of Kuwait returnees infected

35 Ghanaians deportees who recently returned from Kuwait tested positive for COVID-19. The figure represents 15% of returnees.

The group were part of 231 persons who flew into the country aboard a special flight on May 23. The batch also included 43 Togolese. They have been in quarantine since arrival.

A report carried by local media outlets also says the main hospital in the capital, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, has stopped surgeries as virus impact engages anaesthetists. The Greater Accra region is the most impacted with over 5,000 confirmed cases.

The reports say the specialist medics responsible for administering drugs to patients to manage and control their pain ahead operations and surgical procedures have been move to treat critically ill COVID-19 patients.
